"Consider this: An employee backs a company truck into a garage door and does a fair amount of damage. The driver appears dazed, confused and doesn’t have a good explanation for what happened. You tell him to be more careful and send him back to work. A week later he does it again — only this time he causes a lot more damage. You fire the employee and call me to make sure you did the right thing. I surprise you by asking “Did you have him tested for drugs?”
