Miller & Martin member, Dan Gilmore, writes "Student Internships Done Right" to be published in the September 2008 issue of the Nashville Chamber's HR Notes.
"Student internships have long been a useful means of temporarily supplementing an employer's regular workforce while, at the same time, allowing interns to gain valuable work experience and employers to assess the skills and capabilities of interns for possible long-term employment. While interns may not be considered "real" employees by many of their coworkers on the job, their employers should remain mindful of the fact that treating them as less than equals can create problems lasting long after a brief period of employment."
